I was nominated for the Mystery Blogger Award!

The last few days have been a thing. I got all 320 pages of Polaris Skies scheduled to start posting to the Kavordian Library starting in December 2019. I’ve dropped back into writing the rest of Subgalaxia with hopes of having it finished and ready for editing by Christmas. Brackets on the riding lawn mower broke, the washer motor failed, and the fan on the a/c is having fits. It’s been a week.

That being said, I woke up this morning to one of the nicest things to happen in regards to my blog in months. A fellow blogger and tweeter I follow, @arcanedrag0n who runs the blog Dragons Codex, nominated me for the Mystery Blogger Award originally created by Okoto Enigma. Little things like community support can make great impacts on people. Today was one of those impacts. I got to feel all golden and rosy and special. That and valid, like I wasn’t throwing my writing into the void today. That felt nice. Thank you @arcanedrag0n for your thoughtfulness!

@arcanedrag0n covers a variety of topics including mental health and emotional fortitude along with book reviews on her blog. I would encourage you to take a look at her posts for some real talk and life perspectives.

What is the Mystery Blogger Award?

I’m going to lift this directly from Okoto Enigma’s post, that way I don’t miss something important.

Mystery Blogger Award” is an award for amazing bloggers with ingenious posts. Their blog not only captivates; it inspires and motivates. They are one of the best out there, and they deserve every recognition they get. This award is also for bloggers who find fun and inspiration in blogging; and they do it with so much love and passion.

Three Things About Me

I’m going to drop my About Me Page link here just in case you want more.

  1. I keep ducks, chickens, a goose, two cats and a dog and will brag on them ferociously if given the opportunity.
  2. For the seriously dark sadistic authorship of my stories, I had a blissfully pleasant upbringing and am pretty chill in real life. I have no idea where that dark side came out from, but it’s the stories that are stuck inside me. If I had a psych degree, I might know more about who I am as a person for my mindset in writing.
  3. I use this blog platform to write my stories. I call it a webcomic-webprose series because of the art and the page length, but I’m not actually sure what it’s supposed to be called. Is it a blog? Is it a webcomic? Is it a book? I have no idea. My mum worked in the publishing industry for a time and I heard too many horror stories. It ended up biasing me from seeking an agent and publishing house for traditional. That, and my market is so niche, I have my doubts anyone would actually want to push out paperbacks of what I write. Let me know if you do. We’ll talk. Otherwise, a blog seems to work just fine.

My 5 Questions & Answers

  1. What do you do in your spare time? – For the most part, my life revolves around writing and art. Spare time, if I actually step away from the research, would have to be spent playing video games and watching anime with my SO. Currently, I’ve been into playing Diablo III and just finished watching Given and Devils Line.
  2. What is your greatest achievement outside of blogging? – I presented at an academic conference for Fandom and Neomedia Studies on the influencers of Osamu Tezuka’s development of manga and anime. I was able to subsequently get the paper published in their related academic journal.
  3. Who was your first style icon? Oh jeeze…uh…how many emo band and emo anime character names do you want? My immediate thought for first style icon, and I’m a bit embarrassed to say it but probably Billy Martin from Good Charlotte in their really early days or Sasuke Uchiha from Naruto. I can’t believe I’m admitting that. I swear, I’ve calmed down since then, though I did just find a killer black nail polish I’m rocking as I type this and cut down all my hair into an asymmetric cut for beanie weather.
  4. What is the first thing you think of when you wake up in the morning? “Please for the love of all that is holy let it not be time to get up.” Or, on the revers: “Everything hurts, I slept too long.” Too early is between 6:00 a.m and 6:20 a.m., too late is any time after 7:10 a.m. – I haven’t slept in past 7:30 in years (I’m not counting wallering where I’m awake but rolling around in denial of the morning.) Yep, there is a golden time. I can get up and be a normal person before 6:00 a.m. but if you set an alarm for 6 and ask me to wake up I will be the most angsty, bitter, snide velociraptor you have met.
  5. Are you a listener or a talker? I listen more than I talk, and I learn more than I should of people, and remember more than I want to. People tend to think I’m a free shrink. Not sure why. Gives me cannon fodder for my stories though.

My Best Posts
